Family Support

Family Support

Family Linkers are part of Playgroup SA’s support network. A Family Linker helps families navigate complex community and social service systems, ensuring children and families receive the right support at the right time.

Who Family Linkers are for

  • Families with children, particularly those going through developmental or diagnostic processes.
  • Parents and carers seeking support to access early education, disability services, healthcare, or other community services.
  • Families feeling overwhelmed by multiple service systems and looking for a trusted point of contact.

What to expect

Family Linkers work alongside families to:

  • Conduct an initial conversation to understand your child’s and family’s needs.
  • Provide guidance on available supports such as early learning, health, disability, housing, and wellbeing services.
  • Connect you to relevant providers and community resources.
  • Offer ongoing support and follow-up, ensuring services are coordinated and working together.
  • Provide information in plain language and help build confidence in navigating systems.

Benefits

  • Families save time and stress by having one trusted point of contact.
  • Children access the right supports earlier, supporting their learning and development.
  • Parents feel empowered and supported to make decisions.
  • Communities benefit from stronger connections between families and services.

When & where

Family Linkers are available as part of the PALS Supported Playgroup and other Playgroup SA initiatives. Support can be provided through outreach, local playgroups, or at our Kent Town head office.

How to access

Participation is free for families. To connect with a Family Linker, families can be referred through PlayConnect+ or contact Playgroup SA directly to discuss their needs.

Acknowledgement of country.

Playgroup SA acknowledges and respects the traditional custodians of the South Australian regions upon whose ancestral lands our Playgroups operate on.

We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Elders, past, present and future for they  old the memories, the traditions, the culture and the hopes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

We also pay respect to the cultural authority of Aboriginal people from other areas of South Australia and Australia and acknowledge their deep feelings of attachment and Spiritual relationship to Country.

Playgroup SA recognises the pain and suffering caused by past policies to Aboriginal Australians and the impact this has had on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people today.

At Playgroup SA we are committed to a future of reconciliation, we believe that there is much knowledge and wisdom to be gained by Aboriginal Australians, by the learning of Country, land, cultures, truths and realities.
