About us
Playgroup SA is a non-profit, community-based organisation which is committed to providing quality services to families with young children across South Australia. With over 2000 family members attending more than 190 playgroups across South Australia, Playgroup SA offers practical, professional advice and support, training and development including additional needs services, broad insurance coverage, play resources and playgroup workshops, among other services. Playgroup SA is a growing organisation that is run by a Board and has been operating since 1974. As a non-profit organisation, all funds received go directly into the servicing and support of SA Playgroups.

National Playgroup Week is coming up 16 to 22 March 2026 and we want you to be part of it. 💜💜 National Playgroup Week is all about celebrating and promoting the benefits of playgroups for children, families and communities.
We know there are celebrations big and small happening right around Australia, and we would love to showcase yours.
Playgroup coordinators, we invite you to share your playgroup details, event information and photos with us so we can help spread the word. Let’s highlight the amazing work happening in your community.

A playgroup is more than just a weekly catch up.
At playgroup you might see messy play, painting, sensory trays, block building, puzzles, dress-ups and plenty of outdoor exploring. Children develop confidence, social skills and early learning foundations through simple, meaningful play experiences.
For parents and carers, playgroup is a space to meet others, share experiences, swap ideas and feel supported. It is often where friendships begin and local networks are built.

Looking for a welcoming and supportive playgroup for your child? 💛
PlayConnect+ playgroups are open to all children aged 0 to 8 years with disability and/or developmental delay, along with their families, carers and siblings. No diagnosis is required, and sessions are FREE to attend.
Each group is facilitated by qualified professionals and delivered in line with the Playgroup Principles developed by the Australian Institute of Family Studies.
At a PlayConnect+ playgroup, you’ll find:
• Structured routines
• Smaller group sizes
• Visual aids
• Modelling of physical play and social activities
• Positive encouragement
• Activities tailored to each child and family
• Opportunities to connect with child development workers, autism specialists and other services
• Information about supports available in your local community
It’s a wonderful way to build your child’s confidence while creating your own support network with other families who understand.

Yesterday, our Intergenerational Playgroup Facilitator, Sophie, hosted a group of fabulous coordinators for a PlayForever training, networking, and brainstorming day. 🧠🧁💜Making vital connections, coordinators were able to share ideas, obstacles, and achievements in the intergenerational playgroup space, whilst achieving their PlayForever training certificates. Learning and free muffins? Sounds like a great day to us!

It`s Pancake Day today, so get your milk, flour and eggs ready for breakfast, lunch or dinner!
It`s a great opportunity to cook with your little one - mixing the batter, helping to count down before tossing the pancake - and managing emotions by turning tears into laughter if the pancake ends up on the floor or ceiling!

💚Thank you to everyone who came along to Playgroup on the Green – Stirling.💚
It was fantastic to see so many families out enjoying the fresh air, connecting with others and getting involved in the activities. There was plenty of energy, conversation and happy play happening throughout the morning.
We also sincerely thank our community partners who supported the event. Your time, resources and activities helped create a welcoming and engaging experience for families.
We appreciate everyone who was part of the day and look forward to seeing you at the next Playgroup on the Green. 🌱
