Parenting Programs

Parent-Child Mother Goose

Parent-Child Mother Goose uses songs, rhymes and stories as a powerful tool to strengthen the  attachment and interaction between parent/caregiver and their child/children.  The group is facilitated by 2 trained practitioners.

Who Parent-Child Mother Goose is for

The sessions are open to all children from birth – school age and their parent/caregiver.

What to expect

Sessions are facilitated over 60 minutes with parents/caregivers encouraged to participate with their child and participate in songs, rhymes and stories. Story telling is an integral component of the program, which parents and caregivers can learn and re-tell to their child/ren during daily activities.  The sessions are relaxed and slow-paced.

Benefits

The Parent-Child Mother Goose Program builds on the essential parent – child relationship and gives parents the tools that make daily life with a young child more fulfilling. Not only does it promote attachment between parents and their young children but also:

  • Aids in the language development of young children
  • Help to reduce stress associated with being a parent or care of a young child
  • Put parents in touch with other parents (thus helping them to form new friendships)
  • Connect parents and carers with useful resources in their own community
