PEEP Learning Together Program

PEEP Learning Together Program

PEEP (PEEP Learning Together Program) Playgroups bring the evidence-informed PEEP approach, developed in Oxford, into community playgroup settings. Sessions combine relaxed playgroup activities with simple, practical strategies that help families support their child’s learning at home.

Who are PEEP Learning Together Playgroups for

  • Families with children from birth to school entry
  • Parents, carers, and kinship carers who want to learn everyday ways to support learning
  • Communities seeking an inclusive, strengths-based playgroup model

What to expect – activities, format, session details

Each PEEP LTP Supported Playgroup session runs for 60 – 90 minutes and follows a simple, repeatable format:

  1. Welcome and settling: greetings, songs, warm-up activities
  2. Talk time for adults: short conversation on everyday learning opportunities (e.g., mealtimes, play outdoors)
  3. Shared play and activities: play stations supporting language, literacy, maths, and social-emotional development
  4. Songs, stories, and rhyme: group singing and book sharing with tips for home
  5. Take-home ideas: simple prompts families can use in daily routines

Benefits – how families, children, and communities gain.

  • For children: rich opportunities for play, language, and social development
  • For families: increased confidence and strategies to support learning at home
  • For communities: stronger connections between families, facilitators, and local services

Acknowledgement of country.

Playgroup SA acknowledges and respects the traditional custodians of the South Australian regions upon whose ancestral lands our Playgroups operate on.

We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Elders, past, present and future for they  old the memories, the traditions, the culture and the hopes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

We also pay respect to the cultural authority of Aboriginal people from other areas of South Australia and Australia and acknowledge their deep feelings of attachment and Spiritual relationship to Country.

Playgroup SA recognises the pain and suffering caused by past policies to Aboriginal Australians and the impact this has had on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people today.

At Playgroup SA we are committed to a future of reconciliation, we believe that there is much knowledge and wisdom to be gained by Aboriginal Australians, by the learning of Country, land, cultures, truths and realities.
